Reduce Your Risk for Breast Cancer -- GET A MAMMOGRAM!
Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among women, exceeded only by lung cancer. Statistics indicate that one in eight women will develop breast cancer sometime in her life. The stage at which breast cancer is detected influences a woman’s chance of survival. If detected early, the five-year survival rate is 97 percent.
Girard Medical Center is committed to the fight against breast cancer. Mammograms don’t prevent breast cancer, but they can save lives by finding it as early as possible. With our new digital mammography system, images are recorded on a computer so that doctors can enlarge certain sections to look at them more closely.
FREE mammograms are available through a partnership with Early Detection Works for women who are uninsured, 40-64 years old, and within income guidelines. To see if you qualify, call 620-235-7136. The recommendation is that women get a mammogram once a year, beginning at age 40.
If you have commercial insurance or Medicare, Mammograms are almost always paid 100%. Call your healthcare provider to schedule one today!
