Campaign for Life continues through Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and Girard Medical Center Foundation is continuing the Campaign for Life Fundraising Drive. The purpose of the campaign is to purchase a digital mammography machine.
Breast Cancer Awareness t-shirts were sold to hospital employees and community businesses. Those t-shirts are worn on Fridays during the month of October. Shirts will be available for purchase at the Fall Festival. In addition to the t-shirts sales, hospital employee and community drives are also being held.
“Early detection is the best protection for breast cancer. The Foundation is excited to be conducting the fundraising drive to provide state-of-the-art technology for Girard Medical Center,” said Greg Sullivan, Foundation Board President.
The Girard Medical Center Foundation serves to encourage ongoing community support in financing the hospital as well as strengthen their communications and provide long-term leadership.
“Breast cancer has touched the lives of everyone in some way. Whether it is your grandmother, mother, sister, daughter, aunt or friend we all know a woman affected. With this purchase of a new mammography machine, Girard Medical Center can help save lives of someone you know or it could be you,” said Ronda Ison, Executive Director of the Foundation.
Girard Medical Center has served the people of Crawford County and rural Southeastern Kansas since 1910, providing comprehensive healthcare to residents. Reaching out into the community through clinics in Cherokee, Frontenac and Arma, in addition to numerous outreach programs and opportunities are just a few of the ways that GMC serves the residents of Southeastern Kansas. Providing a strong hospital facility with state-of-the-art technological capabilities and a strong professional staff enables GMC to continue to provide the quality care that residents deserve, and enforces their commitment to the health and well being of all residents in Southeastern Kansas, now and in the future.
