Girard Medical Center Foundation Celebrates Grand Opening of 3D Mammogram Machine
Girard Medical Center Foundation (GMCF) is proud to announce the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the state-of-the-art 3D Mammogram Machine, a significant upgrade to the Radiology Department at Girard Medical Center. The event marks the culmination of two years of dedicated fundraising efforts, which resulted in a $199,590.00 donation from the Foundation to bring this advanced technology to the community.
In addition to the Foundation's generous contribution, Kelly Schultz, Director of Radiology, played a crucial role in securing an additional $100,000 grant from the Patterson Foundation. This collaboration has made it possible for Girard Medical Center to provide 3D mammography, a cutting-edge diagnostic tool that offers greater accuracy in detecting breast cancer.
A Community Effort
The success of this project is a testament to the incredible support from our local community. For two years, GMCF hosted various fundraising events and campaigns to make this dream a reality. Their dedication to improving healthcare services at Girard Medical Center will positively impact countless patients by providing access to the latest in breast cancer detection technology.
The Importance of 3D Mammography
3D mammography, also known as tomosynthesis, provides clearer, more detailed images than traditional 2D mammograms. This allows radiologists to better detect abnormalities and reduce the need for follow-up appointments, ultimately leading to earlier detection of breast cancer. Early detection is critical in the fight against breast cancer, and this new equipment will help save lives.
