Dustin Bonzo, MD
Girard Medical Center is pleased to announce that Dr. Dustin Bonzo will be the new family practice physician at GMC of Frontenac, Kansas. Dr. Bonzo received his Bachelor’s in biology from Pittsburg State University and his Doctorate from KUSM-Wichita. He is currently finishing up at the Smoky Hill Family Residency program in Salina, Kansas. Dr. Bonzo met his wife, Ellen, at Pitt State in Honors College. “Ellen and I have been together for seven years and friends even longer,” he said. “We have two beautiful, identical twins – Maddilyn and Isabelle – who are almost a year and a half. Twins do not run in our family so it was the best surprise we could have been blessed with.”
Dr. Bonzo was born and raised in a small town (Greely, Kansas – population 300) and rural family practice has always been his path. “I enjoy all the different avenues and people that you get to see within family practice, and really getting to build a relationship with the patients as well,” he said.
Ruth Duling, CEO, is excited to welcome Dr. Bonzo to the GMC family. “Not only is he a great physician but he’s also a really nice person!” Ruth said. “I know that patients are going to naturally gravitate towards him. We found the perfect match when we found Dr. Bonzo. He and his wife, Ellen, and their daughters, are a wonderful family and we know that the community will enjoy their friendship and involvement.”
Dr. Bonzo feels fortunate as well. “Girard feels like home and we are excited to move back and be closer to our extended family,” he said. “GMC embodies everything about small town life and the values that can build a community.”
In the little spare time he has, Dr. Bonzo said he powerlifts, fishes and changes diapers.
