Pulmonary Rehab
Outpatient Pulmonary Rehabilitation is a unique program designed to help patients who are suffering from lung diseases, like COPD, asthma, emphysema, or COVID-19. It involves a multi-disciplinary team approach with a focus on exercise conditioning, strength training, activities of daily living, breathing retraining, education and emotional support for patients with a wide range of breathing challenges.
Pulmonary Rehab Services combine the best of modern pulmonary treatment with the strength of behavioral medicine to utilize the fundamental connection of mind, body and spirit. Most importantly, it encourages patients to take an active role in their own health care.
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is the 3rd leading cause of death in the U.S. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 24 million Americans have COPD, but that only half of them know it. Many people struggle every day with breathing, not aware that in many cases this condition can be managed.
The Outpatient Pulmonary Rehabilitation program will provide patients with individualized exercise, muscle strengthening and education to reduce pulmonary events and promote a better quality of life. It is designed to teach patients how to complete everyday tasks with proper breathing techniques, pacing, energy conservation skills, and body mechanics to prevent exhaustion.
The program is covered by most insurance companies. You will need a referral from your primary care physician. For more information or to schedule an appointment call 620.724.5126.
